PROJECT BACKGROUND
・
2025
Renovation projects often come with layers of hidden challenges—and this one, located in Tanjung Duren, Jakarta Barat, proved exactly that. At first glance, the issues seemed straightforward. But upon closer inspection, it became clear that the design flaws ran deeper than the surface.
The building spans 7x20 meters over four stories—narrow at the front and stretching deep toward the back. Unfortunately, the previous design neglected one of the most essential aspects of livable architecture: healthy airflow.
The result? A series of tight, dark, and poorly ventilated spaces. Fresh air enters, but has nowhere to escape, creating a damp indoor environment with stagnant air, limited sunlight, and mold growth—a combination far from ideal for healthy living.
Our client came to us seeking a solution, and we responded by rethinking the building’s internal respiratory system. Our design introduces a dedicated airflow strategy that promotes cross-ventilation throughout all floors. We also incorporated new openings and skylights to bring in natural light and regulate internal temperature—creating a healthier, brighter, and more breathable home.
This project is a reminder that good design isn't just about aesthetics—it's about creating environments that support human well-being from the inside out.
